Bloc Party Set to Play Newport in Columbus

Bloc Party is that fantastic UK band you’ll never be cool enough to listen to. The London alternative band has been an unstoppable force since the late 90s, but with the release of their most recent album, Hymns, which came out in January this year, Bloc Party has reached a career crest with their surreal, synth-punk manifesto.

Despite their resurgence, Bloc Party isn’t just another trendy band. The group combines a number of nuances, effects, and instrumentations to form an exceptional rock legacy. Bloc Party are also known for using hip-hop beats and house music to round out their sound into a completely unique experience that only the English four-piece can cultivate.

When I first saw Bloc Party’s new video for “Virtue” off of Hymns I felt like I had stepped into an episode of The Mighty Boosh with its off-the-wall visuals, but stylish presence. Bloc Party capture a special place in between grooving beats and irresistible hooks. I can just imagine lead singer Kele Okereke pulling shapes and bending minds in a stylish nightclub, but in reality Bloc Party are preparing to do just that.

Bloc Party will deliver their sonic presence to the Newport in Columbus on Saturday, May 21 with openers The Vaccines and Oscar. Tickets are still available, but guaranteed to be in high demand for these new wave maestros.
