Chocolate Bar

Where Cravings Meet Their Ultimate Satisfaction

Hallie Witwer
Nobody loves a theme restaurant like I do. Therefore, I wasn’t surprised when I was absolutely thrilled by the end of my visit to Cleveland’s “Chocolate Bar”. With chocolate-themed food, drink, and even entertainment (the original Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory was playing on every television), the place didn’t miss a single detail when it came to chocolaty deliciousness. Even their website (Chocolate Bar) makes your mouth water.

Located on Euclid Ave, Chocolate Bar sits in the East 4th Street neighborhood of bars, giving its location an attractive look and vibrant feel. This part of town is never lacking a crowd, especially during these gorgeous Ohio summer months. With flowers lining the streets and decorative lights strung about, it’s the perfect area of Cleveland to enjoy when the temperature is warm and the skies are clear.

Inside, the bar has a modern feel to it. Wooden decor is infused with metal accents and the color scheme of browns and deep oranges makes everyone feel comfortable and warm. We quickly got a table for four and ten seconds into perusing the menu I wanted one of everything the place offered. With dinner options ranging from salad to pasta and steak, everything looked up-scale and delicious. I suggest trying the “Dip Your Own Berries” option- a plate of succulent fruit surrounding a martini glass filled with melted chocolate.

The drink menu is what really got me, though. With a martini list that, to no surprise but to much affection, featured an impressive amount of chocolate-themed drinks, this Ohio hot spot literally represented a chocolate lovers dream. But, it didn’t stop there. There were also fruit, coffee, and candy-flavored drinks available. I also have to mention that they make three, yes three, different flavors of hot chocolate. I ordered the chocolate mint martini and my friend ordered the chocolate peanut butter martini. Both were absolutely delicious and arrived with straws made out of, you guessed it, chocolate. I wouldn’t have been surprised if the very chair I was sitting on had been made out of some sort of delectable treat.

If you’re looking for a fun gift, or just something memorable to take home, Chocolate Bar has a vast selection of themed souvenirs you can purchase, such as chocolate candles and soap, as well as clothing. I think I’ll be picking up the chocolate pasta my next visit. If you find yourself hungry and in Northeast Ohio, be sure to check out Cleveland’s own Chocolate Bar, but remember to come hungry, and thirsty, because you will definitely want to try it all! Oh, and don’t forget your sweet tooth.
