HANSON is celebrating their 21st birthday by officially launching their own beer, Mmmhops. Brewed in partnership with Oklahoma craft beer company Mustang Brewing, the beer will make its debut this fall in conjuction with the band's ANTHEM World Tour. The extensive tour will also support their upcoming sixth studio album, ANTHEM, out June 18th.

So, HANSON has a new album coming out, and now they're releasing a beer?! My universe just keeps getting better and better. Before you judge me for being a 25-year-old who at ten years old had an "All About Zac" biography, and who STILL rocks out to HANSON, hear me out: these are seriously solid musicians. How many young tween (or grown) acts do you know of or recall where the band members write and perform 100% original music? Where each played several instruments, wrote moving original lyrics, and were never afraid to step outside industry norms to be themselves? They even made a film about their struggles working with a major label, and wound up breaking further from the mold when they formed 3CG records to independently release their own work.

The move to self-manage is not at all unheard of these days, as more and more artists become frustrated with big-label mentalities. There are so many tools out there now to self-promote and build your own career that artists no longer have to depend on the corporate music industry structure - and I have yet to meet an artist that regrets leaving a label for self-management.

HANSON is certainly doing well for themselves after finally getting out from under the label-mama-drama. And, as always, they're staying true to their roots. Ever the good-hearted activists, the band moved up the release of Mmmhops in response to the devastation in their home state of Oklahoma last week. Mmmhops-related merchandise items are also now available for sale, with all proceeds being donated to the Red Cross to aid disaster relief efforts.

"The tragedy hits close to home, especially since this community was among the first places our band performed together, including schools which were lost in the storm. We are hopeful that the proceeds we can galvanize will play a lasting role in the recovery efforts," says Taylor Hanson. "We have loved bringing people together around music for the last 21 years, and 'Mmmbop' which inspired the beer's name is a song about holding onto the friends and moments that count. We want to use this opportunity to make the release of Mmmhops one of those moments".

While the beer won't officially go on sale until the ANTHEM tour, first tastes of Mmmhops were given to attendees at the premiere of The Hangover III, which features the boys' most well-known hit, "Mmmbop." Ohhhhh I hope that means there's a sing-a-long.
