Northside Tavern is hosting a benefit concert put together by with all the proceeds going to Literacy Center West. Come see Dan Orlando, The Ridges, The Never Setting Suns and Frontier Folk Nebraska play their hearts out and benefit a good cause.

The Literacy Center West has been educating teenagers and adults for years, helping them get their GED and subsequently get into college or a career path. They’re working hard to make sure Cincinnati’s underprivileged get chances.

As a nonprofit, they’re always in need of more resources to allow themselves to grow and be able to help the largest number of people possible.

Dan Orlando (Circulis Records) is a singer/songwriter in the vein of Elton John. With his piano and his “Band of Hopefuls”, he plays with such talent, intensity and emotion that one cannot help but stand in awe.

The Ridges, who just released their self-titled EP, are taking the state of Ohio by storm. They masterfully mix old-time music with haunting melodies to create an overwhelmingly beautiful sound.

The Never Setting Suns and Frontier Folk Nebraska are relative newbies to the Cincinnati scene, but have played Clifton Heights Music Festival and Midpoint Music Festival respectively. Their talent is not to be diminished by their newness.

As coinhabitors of this little city, Cincinnati, we need to stick together and support one another. Literacy Center West is creating an atmosphere of growth among some of the citizens, and we should all want to be a part of such a process. Growth isn’t as easy as it sounds, and as fellow Cincinnatians we all should come together and create something beautiful in this city.
