It is almost that time, my friends; the time when Ohio wakes up from its long winter hibernation and takes to the streets once again. No more falling asleep at 8 p.m. because it’s 14 degrees and has been dark for nearly 4 hours already. No more winter depression, wardrobe, or extra pounds that we tell ourselves we needed to put on to stay warm. It’s time to turn that frown upside down, bust out the flip flops and sundresses, and maybe even run a themed 5k or two…because yes, it’s true. Spring is just around the corner and adventure awaits us all. Here’s a list of few events going on in Ohio that will both wake you up AND warm you up!

On Friday, April 12th at 8 p.m. the Great Lakes Science Center is hosting a Yuri’s Night Party, which is a party held to celebrate the past humans in space and the future possibilities that are out there for space travel. These parties are celebrated every year on this date in April all around the globe to commemorate Yuri Gagarin’s first manned space flight on April 12th of 1961. The party here in Cleveland will have live music and dancing all night, open bar of beer and wine included with your ticket price, and a space-themed costume contest to just name a bit of the awesomeness included in this event. Tickets are $35 early bird, and $50 for General Admission. Visit Yuri's Night Cleveland for more event information.

If you’re in Athens, Ohio, on April 20th you should definitely hit up the city’s International Street Fair. Growing every year, the fair is from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Court Street. The fair is made up of a combination of OU international student groups and non-profit community organizations. On average, more than thirty booths are set up on the street and large crowds are drawn every year. Food, art, and stage performances are also a big part of the street fair. A little world culture can liven up your season and even teach you a thing or two, so head out there if you’re in the area! Check out the link International Street Fair for the event’s details.

Looking for someplace to spot some amazing fashion this spring? Put on your most stylish outfit and head up north for Cleveland’s Fashion Week with events happening from May 3rd to May 11th. With trunk shows, wine and cheese parties, a black-tie event, runway shows, and live bands this certainly isn’t an event to yawn at. Come up to the Great Lake city and treat yourself to some glitz and glam! Called the third biggest fashion week in the U.S. after New York and L.A. by Women’s Wear Daily, this is a local event that will give you that big city experience! Fashion Week Cleveland has some fab photos and other info that you should definitely check out to get a feel for all that this event has to offer.

Just as spring creeps into those treasured summer months, the Cleveland Color Run will be taking place. On June 8th, countless runners dressed all in white will be waiting at the starting line in preparation of a 5k run and (more importantly) a full body tie-dye. I ran this event last year and have to say that I had a blast. As you complete each stage of the race you get doused in an additional color so that by the end each runner is no longer the stark white they began as but a colorful mess with a big smile to boot. For registration and location information visit The Color Run Cleveland.

If you’re not into running so much, June 8th is also a big day for the Cleveland Museum of Art as it hosts its annual Parade the Circle event. A 20-year-old tradition, this event is fun for all ages and is a great excuse to visit the museum itself. Completely free, attendees will get to enjoy a wide array of colors, costumes, floats, and dancers as the parade takes over Cleveland’s University Circle. If you feel up to doing more than just spectating, it’s only a six-dollar entry fee to be a part of the parade! So get your creative juices flowing and step outside of the box. The parade begins at noon and goes forth rain or shine. Parade the Circle 2013 can tell you everything else you’ll need to know before making the trip to a museum that always has tons to offer.

Looking for a great concert to hit up this spring? Akron is in luck because Bob Dylan in coming to E.J. Thomas Hall on April 19th. If you’re looking for a chill night that also allows you to witness a living legend, then this is the evening for you. Sit back and enjoy some killer guitar, that voice that only belongs to one man, and let the 60’s and 70’s wash over your soul. Let go of all the craziness of our era and enjoy the simplicity of decades past. Visit the link Bob Dylan Ticket Info for venue and ticket info!
