Rockin' On the River: Cuyahoga Falls Premier Concert Series

Chad W. Lutz
It’s Friday night and you have two options: 1.) Stay in and watch Kesha videos online till your eyes bleed or 2.) Get up, get out, and do something social. I know it might be hard to tear yourself away from up-to-the-minute status updates and the latest episode of The Amazing Race, but there’s more to life than keyboards and Coca Cola, especially when it comes to live entertainment. (Trust me)

Now in its 25th year, the Cuyahoga Falls Rockin’ on the River concert series provides the bored and the floored an escape from the weekend what-to-do worries. Every Friday night throughout the summer, the City of Cuyahoga Falls throws a party and you’re invited. The best part? Admission is free of charge.

The highest-attended concert series in Northeast Ohio, Rockin’ on the River is also the longest running concert series in the Buckeye State. This year, three 9ft. by 12ft. screens and a new lighting system have been added to enhance the audience experience. No longer will those in the back have to strain to gain a view of the stage. Also new to this year’s festivities will be weekly giveaways celebrating the concert series 25th anniversary. Rockin’ on the River will be giving away gas cards, TVs, and Rock N’ Roll memorabilia, including signed guitars by members of Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd. Tickets to Browns games, jewelry prizes, and a trip for two to Punta Cana will also be raffled off. However, all prizewinners must be present to claim their rewards.

Rockin’ on the River will also feature local venders, street performers, food, fun, and, of course, beer. What would a festival be without spirit? Beers of the World makes its triumphant return along with its bumbling beer buddy Budweiser. Golden Dragon, Brubaker’s, and Guy’s Ribs will be on hand to satisfy hungry concert goers along with many other local restaurants and chains.

But everyone knows the reason you come down to the River Front on Friday’s during the summer months isn’t for the food or beer, it’s for the music. This year Rockin’ on the River spared no expense and created a summer lineup filled with lively local bands the traditional lineup of cover bands of some of your all-time favorites.
