Stand Up for Ohio Festival - August 20th

Chad W. Lutz
Join thousands of fellow Buckeyes this Saturday at Ohio State Fairgrounds in Columbus from noon to dusk for a fun-filled festival sponsored by Stand Up For Ohio. The event goes to raise awareness for the Senate Bill 5 initiative that will be on the ballot this November. In March 2011, Ohio lawmakers passed Senate Bill 5, an act that abolished collective bargaining in the state of Ohio, in a sweeping overhaul by a vote of 53-44 in the House of Representatives and 17-16 in the State Senate.

Headlining the event are Ohio’s own Over The Rhine and The Ohio Player’s, poet Nikki Giovanni, and American super band Grand Funk Railroad. Demonstrations and speeches for the growth and development of jobs and resources in Ohio will be happening throughout the evening with special guests to be announced during the show.

Admission is free for the event. Parking costs $8 per vehicle and $16 per bus. Ohio State Fairgrounds are located just off 17th Ave. exit via I-71. Alcoholic beverages will be sold inside the event gates but will not be permitted to be carried in by festival goers.
